Wicklow Forest Bathing Guides

Connect with nature in the Garden of Ireland

Wicklow Forest Bathing Guides is a collaboration between forest bathing guides in county Wicklow, Ireland. We all took part in the ‘pilot eco-tourism training programme initiative’ that was developed by County Wicklow Partnership and funded under the LEADER Rural Development Fund. We started our training in the spring of 2021 and will be qualified guides by October 2021. Every one of us has their own speciality and previous experience that makes all of us unique. Together we are a diverse and creative group who offer a wide range of forest bathing experiences.
What is Forest Bathing in Wicklow

What is forest bathing?

Forest Bathing or shinrin-yoku originated in Japan in the 1980’s. It means bathing in the forest atmosphere or taking in the forest through our senses.  This is not exercise, or hiking or jogging.  It is simply being in nature, connecting with it through our sense of sight , hearing , taste, smell and touch.
When we open up our senses, we begin to deepen our connect to the natural world and bring our rhythms into step with nature.
It is both a wellness practice enhancing vigour, vitality and promoting positive mental health and a preventative practice boosting the immune system, reducing blood pressure, stress levels and improving sleep.
However the focus is not just on improving the health of the participant but also the health of the planet , as people will protect what they know and love.

Aisling Plunkett

Arc Healing

Based in Arklow, for more than two decades now I have been working with a variety of holistic therapies and teaching Yoga, Wellbeing & Meditation. My passion is to help people open up to the amazing healing energy available all around us. Join me for some Japanese Forest Bathing infused with our Ancient Celtic Wisdom. My signature sessions coincide with the 8 festivals of the Celtic Wheel. We share knowledge of our celtic folklore, folk medicine, Poetry and of course the importance of our native Irish trees including the ancient wisdom of the ogham trees. At the end of every session a special “Seomra Sí” memento of our time together in the forest is given to all of our guests.

Cathelijne de Wit

Avonmore Forest Bathing

Originally from the Netherlands, Cathelijne moved to Ireland because she fell in love with the natural landscape of the emerald isle. As a forest bathing guide she shares her love for nature and Ireland with others. She offers guided forest bathing experiences and nature connection hikes in different locations around Wicklow. She also organises full day and multiple day nature retreats in collaboration with Tipi Adventures, on the bank of the Avonmore river, just outside Rathdrum. The perfect location to connect with nature, slow down and re-energise.

Sarah Eva Manson

Ballyrogan Expression

Do you get overwhelmed juggling so many tasks at home and at work? When was the last time you sat still beside a tree? When was the last time you sat still at all? Sarah gets it too. With two toddlers, work, home and studio life she rarely has time for herself, let alone having the time to meditate out in nature. Responsibilities, lockdown and overwhelm were constant companions for years until Sarah started opening her heart and mind to Forest Bathing. The gratitude she holds overflows within her and she can’t help but share it with others.

Bosca Beatha

Bosca Beatha the original and first mobile sauna in Ireland, we’ve been touring the Irish countryside since 2012. We are committed to creating an inclusive and peaceful environment where people can connect with each other in nature. Our locations are always in nature beside water so you can dip into a refreshing lake, river or the expansive ocean during your sauna experience. We are open all year round - located in the Glenmalure valley in the Wicklow hills from Sept to April. At this location an additional space was created and this serves to enhance the Bosca Beatha experience where meditation, yoga, music and nature education sessions can be held.
